I Broke Free From Industrial Clothing Last Night...
Переглядів 19 тис.3 місяці тому
For nearly a decade, it has been my dream to break free from all synthetic clothing, all fast-fashion, all clothing made in factories. It’s been my dream to be truly connected to my clothes - to know not just the source of the fabric, but to know the source of every single element of my clothes - the thread, the buttons and even the dye to create the colors. Last night I finally broke free from...
Winter Swimming Medicine
Переглядів 9 тис.5 місяців тому
I’ve been swimming in the cold waters of Lake Superior and the creeks and rivers of the region for the last four months. The ice has finally come onto Chequamegon Bay and is now too thick for me to easily break through. But I still managed to refresh myself with the pure waters of my homeland! This is one of my last swims in these frozen waters before returning to the mountains of North Carolin...

If I could only choose one tree to plant in every yard in Florida, it would be Moringa, also called The Vitaman Tree or The Tree of Life. Moringa is one of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet and if everyone in Florida grew and truly utilized this one plant it could change our food system! Moringa can be eaten fresh daily soups, salads, smoothies and direct niblings from the tree. ...

Funny that you say you were a Vegan once but ‘Didn’t sit well with you’ I have quite a few friends who forage food, live very connected with Nature like you but choose to abstain from consuming Animals or make fun of them like you do of the squirrel for instance. You sound like you love fishing, it’s your passion since you have been brainwashed early age to think it’s okay. You found your excuse there with Mullet only eating plants and your need for fats. You are doing good things except you can be better when it comes to thinking of Animals. Grow abundant fruit trees and leafy greens and you are pretty much good at surviving and thriving. You live in Florida, there is no excuse. You eat Animals because of taste and habit, be honest. Go all the way like a caring human that you portrait yourself to be. If you have such knowledge and can grow so much food, eating Animals is unnecessary and hypocritical.

I do admire your living off grids in such minimalism and simplicity. I believe in simplicity too. But our ideology and definition of ‘simplicity’ are somewhat different. I live a simple life but I still want comfort and I want to appear presentable. My definition of simple is Not wearing anything glamorous, I only buy clothes when I need to replace torn ones, I don’t use high end skin products or expensive detergents or expensive brands of household gadgets…

Y'know, it's funny. I suffer from pretty severe anxiety and this morning has been bad. Difficulty breathing, palpitations, the works. I came across this video on my home page and as I watched through it, I realised my anxiety was lessening. This is the life I dream of. Disconnected from all that doesn't enrich my soul, being in tune with nature. Maybe one day I'll achieve my dream. Thank you, Robin 💛

Because your live is more “inaccessible” to the majority of the world- I feel the only way to have a better life, is to start doing the things that we CAN do. At the moment, I may not be able to do all of these beautiful things that you do, but I can do a few of them and start now. Just a few small changes will take me so much further than where I am now.

Are there intentional, ecological communities for people who have disabilities, or that accept people with disabilities? Especially if we have very low income and DONT require a babysitter? Most affordable options for disabled people are way too paternalistic, or too expensive, and don't center ecological living.
